Students: Class is on Grindstone Island and transportation will be provided.  Please bring a lunch, snacks and drinks each day.  Wear comfortable cloths and bring a bathing suit if you would like to swim.

Once again, you are cordially invited to two fun-filled days at the beautiful summer home of TIAC’s original founder Emily Post on Grindstone Island for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to paint a work of art that you can walk on!  Transportation will be provided to and from Grindstone daily.  Please assemble at the town dock across from The Scoop ice cream shop at 9:15am each morning.

You’ll be inspired by the flora and fauna around us to create cascading vines, animal prints and paws, fish, birds and patterns. Experiment with hand-painting, leaf prints, and stencil techniques on canvas, as well as texture and color with water-based acrylic paint.

When finished and sealed, your floor cloth becomes a hard-wearing decorative alternative to a carpet (floor cloths were the beginning of linoleum).  Floor cloths can also make wonderful placemats, pet mats, or boot trays - and can be used anywhere drips “happen” since they can be wiped clean.

Let the river landscape and this historic cottage influence your creative exploration!
