These woodcarving classes will focus on learning the four basic carving cuts and stressing safety in the use of the knives and equipment.  All materials will be supplied and Jack will demonstrate each step of carving on a “blank” so students can see how the steps are completed. The use of wood burning to accent the carving will also be demonstrated. Students will leave class with a completed project and a great knowledge of carving, safety, and tools to use at home.

Choose between a comfort bird, a butternut owl, or a pine cone cardinal ornament – or take all three!  Comfort birds contour to the hand and are used by many people going through trying times in their lives, during prayer, and given as gifts to those struggling.  The owls are carved in butternut wood and are a realistic mini version of this majestic creature.  And the cardinal has become a symbol of the beauty and warmth of the holiday season so many people put a cardinal ornament in their Christmas tree each year.
