A large rectangular piece of ecru linen, plain weave, cloth embroidered with bold geometric designs in burgundy, green, and buff. Central seam along length joins selvedges of two separate strips of cloth, each of two selvedges and rolled hem ends. Piece is said to have been made for a bride in Bethlehem, Palestine. Wide border design along length, of diamond shapes outlining S motifs. Very wide embroidered borders showing shapes appear to represent stalks of grain. Central field decorated with scattered cross and flag motifs, with central hem edge in burgundy and green sawtooth trim.
