Woven panel. Gold, green and brown asian brocade with butterflies, caterpillars, medallions with leaves. The piece is worked in 4 strips and basted together. Mitered corners, stitches on foldlines indicate piece once had a lining. Remains of glaze/paint on surface. Identified by Dr. Charles Dibble as 17th century Japanese weave – Persian influence.
