Long red and white woolen sampler of twill variations. Sampler divided into three vertical rows of twill variation blocks. Warp yarns are: left third – white; middle and right third – red and white. Weft yarns are the same natural white and dyed red of warp. White yarn is thick natural white wool plied with thin cotton thread. Red yarn is two ply S twist wool. Two selvedges and two fringed ends. Fringe is knotted at one end. Paper tag with blue ink handwritten notes: Warp 356 / Threading – Straight Draw / Treadling – all split / reg. Twills / last 2 – Check Twill / Treadlings.
