Wool Sport Jacket material, Fawn and white, 12 cut Conlin wool warp especially manufactured for Handweavers’ Sport Jacket material with instructions for weaving and finishing, ready for tailoring. The threading is a Dornic Twill with original variation by Ruth Holroyd and used for Intermediate classes for many years, at the Art Gallery and at the Weaving Studio in Chautauqua Institution. This yardage, woven with multi-colored slubby Belgian Tweed and 16/1 silk with colored slubs, was intended for one of my sons, finished but never made into a jacket. It is being given to the Museum with his permission. It was woven in two pieces (for some reason). A series of 5 yardages with different colored wefts were woven for each of Ruth’s four sons and her husband (whose jacket is in the collection (2012.01.434).
