Yardage:Wool Sport Jacket yardage material, Fawn and white, 12 Conlin wool warp especially manufactured for Handweaver’s Sport Jacket material with instructions for weaving and finishing, ready for tailoring. The threading is a Dornic Twill with original variation by Ruth Holroyd and used for Intermediate classes for many years, at the Art Gallery and at the WEaving Studio in Chautauqua Institution. This yardage, woven with multi-colored slubby Belgian Tweed and 16/1 silk with colored slubs, was intended for one of my sons, finished but never made into a jacket. It is being given to the Museum with his permission. It was woven in two pieces (for some reason): one measures 30.25 and 3 yards 16 inches long; the other is 28 inches wide and 42 inches long. A series of 5 yardage with different colored wefts were woven for each of 4 sons and their father, Edmond W. Holroyd, Jr. whose jacket is presently in the Museum’s collection (2012.01.434a).
