IRIS IN WATERCOLOR

Instructor: Paul Allen Taylor
Tuition: $95
5 min / 10 max
Intermediate
The iris is an interesting flower of unique shapes and color variety. Its long petals and numerous curved edges can be a challenge when trying to capture its essence in a painting. While it’s a beautiful flower, the artist must think of it only as edges and shapes. The emphasis in this class will be on washes and glazing, working from the general to the specific. Class will open with a color mixing session followed by a short exercise related to the afternoon painting. You’ll work on a 10” x 10” surface using a palette of Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium, and Prussian Blue. Students are required to bring their own equipment and a supply list is available upon registration.
