CLAYTON, NY (June 19, 2017) The Thousand Islands Arts Center ~ Home of the Handweaving Museum is pleased to announce that its 50th Anniversary Gala will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6, from 6 - 8:30 pm at Saint Lawrence Spirits Distillery & Chateau, 38289 NYS Route 12E Clayton.  In conjunction with this milestone event will be an extensive exhibition entitled It Started at the River: Prints & Paintings by Nancy Hammond.

 It Started at the River: Prints & Paintings by Nancy Hammond will open on June 29. Nancy Hammond, Annapolis, Maryland, is a contemporary painter with an eye for water life. Her stylish collection of prints with unique design elements are celebrated throughout the United States, specifically her annual poster series of the Chesapeake. Ms. Hammond grew up summering on Murray Island where she drew much of her inspiration.

Ms. Hammond designed the exclusive 1000 Islands St. Lawrence River poster in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Thousand Islands Arts Center. The show featuring many of Ms. Hammond’s paintings will be on display at the Arts Center through July 25.
