2016 Raffle Quilt Winner Announced

The Thousand Islands Arts Center in collaboration with The St. Lawrence River Quilters are pleased to announce the winner of the 2016 quilt raffle, Kathy Stoikas, Rochester, NY. The winner was drawn at the close of the 34th Annual Arts & Crafts Show & Sale held on August 27 and 28. The quilt, called River Waves, was on display at the Arts Center since April and has appeared at all its major events throughout the summer. Hundreds of tickets were sold and $2,300 was raised to benefit the Arts Center.
Stoikas, who made the trip up from Rochester this past weekend said she was “surprised and honored” to be the recipient of the quilt. She purchased the raffle ticket at the 52nd Annual Antique Show & Sale, held August 13 and 14. “I come to the show every year, and every year I purchase a raffle ticket” recalls Stoikas “I never expected to win.”
Over the years, the St. Lawrence River Quilters have designed and quilted a one-of-a-kind quilt and subsequently donated it to the Arts Center to help support the organization. This year’s quilt was designed especially for TIAC to be used as its 2016 raffle fundraiser. This beautifully handcrafted, queen-size quilt was pieced by the St. Lawrence River Quilters and machine quilted by Rika Winkelman.
