Coverlet fragment – red and dark greenish-blue wool. This section of a coverlet contains the center seam where two loom widths were sewn together to make a larger coverlet. The two pieces appear to be of two different dye lots. There are also two narrow hemmed seams. Weave structure is overshot weave. Pattern is Series IV Radiating Pattern part of blooming leaf and table. Warp is dark greenish-blue wool, weft is the same. Pattern weft is dark rust wool. This coverlet is included in Documentation on Seven Coverlets. A Study in Seven Coverlet Projects: Research, Study and compliled by Mary E. Snyder in 1995, located in this museum’s library, according to catalog card.
