Special paper called masa paper (provided by instructor) will give this floral painting a very realistic look, providing the crinkles and veins without making many brush strokes. Table salt will provide textures and a special brush called a wisp will help make even petal lines. Yellows and oranges encircle the dark dimpled center, and water spotting and salt will provide a rough texture against the smoothness of the flower. Shadowing of the petals will make them pop right off the page. Sketching the petals is necessary prior to painting.
