Painting delicate items like lace is not difficult to do if you can follow simple pencil lines. In the painting we’ll work on, layers of transparent colors make the radishes show their shape and the shine on the pitcher is done with Chinese white. Salting adds the extra texture on the lace and deep shadows create depth and realism. Tedious brush strokes are necessary, but the end result will be well worth it. Some drawing is necessary prior to painting.

Students, please bring: Watercolor paper (140 lb cold press), watercolor brushes, a palette and watercolor paints, table salt, paper towels, a pencil, and an eraser.
