Intermediate level – should be comfortable winding a warp and dressing a loom.
This class aims to begin to free the intermediate weaver from the tyranny of weaving by recipe. Changes in sett, tie-up, treadling, and weft color, texture or size can yield a startling variety of finished fabrics from one warp and treading. Each student will bring a prepared warp to class. Each loom will be warped with a different threading and several different samples will be woven on each loom by each student in a ‘round robin’ fashion.
Students bring: Prepared warp (to be discussed with instructor), weft, graph paper, a few colored pencils, lunch. Optional: Personal loom with four or more shafts, shuttles, laptop with weaving program.
