TIAC RECEIVES GRANT FUNDING

CLAYTON, NY (August 1, 2022) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center (TIAC) is pleased to announce a grant award from the St. Lawrence County Arts Council (SLC Arts) as part of its North Country Arts Recovery Fund. This federally funded program supports eligible organizations and artists in the arts sector that have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Funding is provided through the National Endowment for the Arts American Rescue Plan Subgranting for Local Arts Agencies program, and is administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.

TIAC was awarded $10,000 (100% of its requested amount) and the monies will be used to support artist instructor fees, facilities and marketing costs, and PPE expenses.

Leslie W. Rowland, TIAC’s executive director, said: “We are grateful that the NEA continues to acknowledge the ongoing challenges created by the pandemic. While much of our programming, exhibitions, and events have been restored, the lingering uncertainties of the virus, and, now this year, the economic downturn, have continued to impact our operations. This award will certainly help to bridge those gaps.”

SLC Arts received 36 applications for this very competitive grant. Requests totaled $230,000, while awards totaled $100,000. The St. Lawrence County Arts Council, SLC Arts, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Potsdam, NY, which strives to enrich the vibrancy of the North Country community by cultivating arts appreciation and inspiring creative expression. It creates and supports arts initiatives, bringing the arts to the Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence County counties, and supporting entrepreneurs in the arts field to enrich the lives of the people who live there and to encourage economic development and tourism. SLC Arts is not affiliated with the county government in any way.
