BIRD ON THE WIRE: THE ART OF GREG LAGO OPENING 8/25!

Clayton, NY (August 18, 2021) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center ~ Home of the Handweaving Museum (TIAC) is pleased to announce Bird on the Wire: The Art of Greg Lago. The solo exhibition will open to the public on Wednesday, August 25th, and run through October 22. There will also be an Artist Talk to complement the exhibition on Friday, August 27th at 11 a.m. at TIAC.

For over 40 years Greg has been creating and exhibiting his work, including exhibitions in San Francisco and New York City, as well as in the British Isles as part of a touring exhibition with the Society of Wood Engravers. His work is represented in numerous permanent collections such as the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York, and the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Many will remember Greg’s gallery, Winged Bull Studio, in Clayton, which he owned and operated for 25 years. Currently, Greg is a member of the artist cooperative Fibonacci in Watertown.

Leslie Rowland, executive director of the Thousand Islands Arts Center, said: “TIAC is excited to present one of the North Country’s most prolific artists. Greg’s remarkable body of work includes woodcuts, sculpture, paintings, and engravings, and we will have some of each on display, and many available for sale. ”

An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at 5:30 – 7:00. Admission to the exhibition is complimentary to all TIAC members and $5 for non-members. There is no charge for the opening reception.
