ALONG THE RIVER’S EDGE JURIED EXHIBITION OPENS Aug. 20
Clayton, NY – The Thousand Islands Arts Center ~ Home of the Handweaving Museum is pleased to announce the return of the juried art exhibition and sale, Along the River’s Edge, on display from Aug. 20-Nov. 14. There will be an opening reception Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 5-7 pm and all are welcome to attend. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $5.
The Arts Center’s longest-running annual exhibition, Along the River’s Edge is a highlight of the summer season. A vibrant celebration of local and regional creativity, this exhibit showcases the work of more than 50 regional artists working in a wide range of mediums. From painting, photography, and sculpture to mixed media and ceramics, Along the River’s Edge offers a dynamic snapshot of the North Country’s diverse artistic talent. Selected this year by jurors Susan Haldeman and Michael Valvo, the featured works highlight both emerging voices and established artists. All artwork will be for sale to benefit the artists and the Arts Center.
Marina Loew, the Arts Center’s curator, said of the exhibition, “We have a phenomenal show in store for our patrons, friends, and visitors! The pieces have been arriving ahead of the installation and we're amazed once again by the talent in our area. We have some new artists and are happy to see many returning from previous years. Many thanks to the jurors for their hard work selecting pieces for this exhibition!”
The Thousand Islands Arts Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of
traditional arts and handcrafts through educational programs, classes, lectures, and exhibits.
