WEAVING EXHIBITION OPENS AT THOUSAND ISLANDS ARTS CENTER

CLAYTON, NY (April 21, 2021) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center (TIAC) is pleased to announce the recent opening of Highlights of the Collection in the Catherine C. Johnson Gallery. The exhibition, the first of the season, highlights a selection of never-before-seen woven textiles from the museum’s collection.
Visitors will be inspired by finely woven placemats by Jeanetta Jones; delicate rag rugs; a dress by Ruth Holroyd; and star work samples from Jacob Angstadt’s designs. Pieces on display also include colorful wall hangings by prominent weavers Theo Moorman, Mary Snyder and Lucille Landis, as well as a number of foreign textiles.
Due to the ongoing pandemic gathering restrictions, there is no opening reception. However, visitors are invited to view the exhibit while wearing masks and physically distancing. The exhibition is free and open to the public, and will be on display through June 2nd.
Leslie Rowland, TIAC’s executive director, said: “We are excited to display many of TIAC’s finest textile pieces in this exhibition. They represent the best of the best in our rare and vast collection.”
