Watertown Savings Bank in support of the Arts Center’s Campus Expansion project

CLAYTON, NY (May 12, 2026) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center is proud to announce a significant $50,000 contribution from Watertown Savings Bank in support of the Arts Center’s Campus Expansion project.

The contribution will help fund the interior build-out and final phase of construction for the new Arts Center at 321 James Street, scheduled to open in June 2026. The cornerstone of the Arts Center’s expanding campus, the new facility will meaningfully increase the Arts Center’s capacity to serve residents and visitors through exhibitions, educational programming, artist workshops, and community events.

The new building establishes a permanent home for the Handweaving Museum while expanding gallery space and educational offerings. It includes three ADA-compliant classrooms, one dedicated to children’s programming, as well as a third-floor weaving and artist studio overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Upon completion, the Arts Center campus will connect the historic location on John Street with the new James Street building, creating an arts destination that brings together pottery studios, green spaces, and expanded parking.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Watertown Savings Bank and their commitment to investing in the future of our community,” says Executive Director Mia Ramseier. “This project is about more than a building; it is about creating a welcoming space where creativity, education, and culture can take root for generations to come. Partnerships like this make that vision possible.”

The Arts Center will celebrate the grand opening of the 321 James Street facility on June 27, 2026, during its annual Summer Arts Kick-Off event.

As construction enters its final phase, the Arts Center invites the community to learn more about the campus expansion and the Weaving Our Future Together campaign at TIArtsCenter.org or by following the Center on social media.
