Kids can get creative at the Arts Center
CLAYTON – The Thousand Islands Arts Center ~ Home of the Handweaving Museum will be hosting a series of seven kids’ camps for children ages 5 – 10 this summer. Be a part of the creative fun!
The Youth Summer Art Camps will kick off the week of July 7 – 11 and run for seven consecutive weeks during the summer months, from 9am – noon, Monday – Friday. Popular local art teacher Nicky Badour will kick off the first camp, followed by camps with fellow teachers, Annie DeStefanis and Maria VanPelt. Each week of camp has a theme, and the kids will work on different art projects related to the designated theme.
Also in the offering is a Teen Wheel & Handbuilding Camp in the pottery studio during the week of July 28 – August 1 from 1 – 4pm. Designed for youth ages 11-17, the camp will be headed up by skilled artist and potter, Nicole Toskin. Plus, a Galaxy Tie-Dye class will take place on August 9 and 11 with artist Katie Duford. Kids of all ages can have fun using liquid dyes to craft a colorful cosmic background on a t-shirt.
Registration is required for all camps and classes. Camps will take place at Christ Episcopal Church, located on the corner of Hugunin and John streets in Clayton, and are open for registration. Call the Arts Center, stop by or visit the website for registration. The teen pottery camp and the tie-dye class will take place in the pottery studio at the Arts Center at 314 John Street.
Funding for the Arts Center’s Youth Programming is made possible in part through the generosity of the Youth Philanthropy Council of NNYCF, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the RBC Foundation-USA.
