MILLINERY EXHIBITION OPENS AT THOUSAND ISLANDS ARTS CENTER
CLAYTON, NY (April 26, 2023) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center (TIAC) is pleased to announce the opening of the Art of Millinery: Hats by Sally Caswell. The exhibition is on display now through July 1. Milliner Sally Caswell, a Watertown native now living in New York City, has brought a stunning collection of her hats and headpieces to TIAC. Among her many accolades, Caswell has created hats for Broadway, Disney, operas, ballets, regional NY theaters, and TV. She has worked alongside renowned milliner Stephen Jones OBE during NY Fashion Week for Marc Jacobs and Savage Fenty, and helped install headpieces for the exhibit, In Pursuit of Fashion, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
TIAC Curator Marina Loew remarked: “Who isn’t intrigued by a fascinator, an elegant bonnet, or a stylish fedora? Sally has made some truly stunning pieces and her craftsmanship is unparalleled. I encourage everyone to come check out the exhibit – and I’m happy to assist if you’d like to try on a hat or two!” The exhibition is open to the public. Admission is free for TIAC members, and $5.00 for non-members. There will be a public reception and Meet the Artist at the Arts Center, 314 John Street, Clayton, on June 28th , from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. The reception is free for all. In addition to the reception, TIAC will host a Fashion Show on Friday, June 23rd.
