Thousand Islands Arts Center Announces Grand Opening & Summer Arts Kick-Off
Clayton, NY — The Thousand Islands Arts Center is excited to invite the community to its Grand Opening and Summer Arts Kick-Off at the new facility, located at 321 James Street, Clayton, on Saturday, June 27, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This free event marks the official opening of the Arts Center’s new space and celebrates the start of a summer full of creativity, art, and community engagement.
Attendees will be able to explore the new facility through guided tours of the galleries, classrooms, and creative spaces, participate in hands-on kids’ crafts, and shop in the expanded gift shop. Raffles, giveaways, and surprises throughout the day will add to the festive atmosphere. The grand opening also marks the opening of our premier annual juried exhibition, Along the Rivers Edge.
The new Arts Center is made possible by dedicated private donors, foundations—including the Northern New York Community Foundation—and grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the National Parks Service, and the National Endowment for the Arts. This new facility expands access to beloved programs such as pottery, painting, fiber arts, photography, jewelry, mosaics, and more. The building also includes a permanent handweaving exhibit, a library and research area, and a welcoming entrance that enhances accessibility and community engagement.
“This grand opening is a celebration of creativity, community, and a new chapter for the Arts Center,” said Executive Director Mia Ramseier. “We look forward to welcoming the public, showcasing our new spaces, and kicking off the summer with arts, culture, and inspiration for everyone.”
Admission for this event is free, and all are welcome.
